Vol. 3 Winners

Macon, GA – Music is a large part of Macon’s culture and with that comes a lot of local talent. Friends of Macon Music began the Macon Music CD project to after taking over the project from NewTown Macon. The Album Compilation features some of Middle Georgia’s best. Submissions were accepted from artists living or attending school in the Macon area. The Macon Music CD project is in its fourth year and will be open to submissions of Middle Georgia’s best musicians. Take a look at our past years winners.


Vol. 3

Gloria Stanley

Gloria Stanley is a multi-talented, multi-faceted performing artist.  She is a singer, songwriter, actress poet, freelance writer, author and more.  She is humble in demeanor and enjoys using her gifts and talents to elevate the mind, body and soul of mankind in the totality of harmony and happiness.

 She was born and lives in Macon, Georgia, the hometown of the late great Otis Redding and renowned soulful artists like Randy Crawford, Little Richard, James Brown and The Allman Brothers Band. 

 Locally, she has graced the stage at The Douglas Theatre (James Brown-The Macon Factor Live At the Douglas); Mercer University Bookstore Holiday Storytelling, 2015; Grants Lounge, Hummingbird and Key Club Open Mic; Taste and See Coffee Shop & Gallery Friday Night Event; Community Connection (100 Year Celebration at The Terminal Station) and Open Streets Macon, 2016.  Also, she hosts a blog talk radio show titled “Happy Talk Radio.”  And she is a storyteller under the title of “Happy Talk Storytime.”

 Through the years, her music and art have evolved; and today she said it is at the epitome of “A Touch of Greatness.”

Gringo Grande

Gringo Grande is made up of six local musicians. The members are Baxter James (guitar and vocals), George Greer (guitar and vocals), Ross Destree (guitar), Merle Arehart (bass and vocals), Alex Sanders (drums), and Randy Sanders (harmonica). The band was founded in 2010. Alex, George, and Baxter are all members of the Atlanta based Tron Jackson. Tron is a rock and roll cover band covering anything from the Stones to the Killers. Gringo morphed off of Tron as a Macon based original band where they picked up Merle and Ross. Gringo is heavily Blues based with a touch of Folk. Gringo’s first album, “Cross-eyed in my Prime”, was recorded in 2012 at Macon’s Star Motel Studios by Rob Evans. The second album is just around the corner. Josh Garner

Josh Garner is a singer/songwriter from Macon, Georgia. He is the lead singer, writer, and guitarist for a local band called Failing Acts of Society. Josh is also an intern with the 5/4 Music Space, Middle Georgia’s music incubator. When not on stage, Josh spends his time receiving an education from Berklee School of Music.
